Welcome to the Enrollment Page for the fretLIVE Fretboard Mastery Program Fall 2024 Cohort!

The course will begin on Monday, September 30th 2024 and will include 12 action packed sequential units spread out over 16 weeks.

This course is limited to 40 students, so enroll now while you can! It will fill up soon.

The Fall 2024 session will be the 11th cohort since I launched the program in Winter 2021, and I couldn't be more excited about how it's been going. Getting to work with you face to face in live Zoom sessions, and in the private group where we share our work has made all the difference for both myself and for students. It's truly like a college course, but you'll have lifetime access to hours of high quality instructional videos with Pow Music's innovative fretLIVE animations, jam tracks and play along videos, TAB, chord charts, scale chart .pdf downloads, and much more. I'm also in the process of adding a book to the course and all students that have taken the course will get free access to the book when it's ready.

Check out the video linked above by clicking "watch promo" to hear testimonials for students and see and hear how it can transform your guitar playing and musicianship.

If you're able to enroll on this page, that means there is still space available. When it fills up, you can join a waiting list for future cohorts by sending me an email at [email protected] with the subject line "Waiting List."

This is not just a regular online course you buy, and then go through on your own, whenever you want, with no accountability to master the concepts and get through to the end.

This is more like a semester long college course that I'll be teaching you through both a suite of in depth fretLIVE fretboard animation video lessons and live weekly face to face small group video lessons, and you'll have 39 other classmates to interact with in a private group.

Over the course of 12 weeks, you'll take 12 sequential three part lessons. Each lesson has a theory segment with fretLIVE animations, a song lesson segment, so you can see the concept applied, and a creative assignment that challenges you to explore the concept on your own. There are also some written assignments where you'll be working with fretboard diagrams, TAB, and chord charts.

At the start of each week you'll receive an email notification that the current week's content is live, and what the expectations are for the week.

You will be joined by a cohort of 39 other students that you will interact with during live weekly zoom sessions that I will lead. I'll be offering the live sessions twice a week and you should attend one of them, but can come to both as well. One is in the early afternoon on Saturdays (11:30-1:30pm Central), and one is on Wednesday evenings (6:30-8pm Central).

To successfully complete the course, you'll have to share video or audio recordings of your work in a private group with your peers. If you're not comfortable with that, you'll have to email them to me.

You won't be able to skip ahead, and each weeks lesson will be released at the beginning of that week.

This is a LIVE course.

WHAT WILL YOU GAIN FROM THIS COURSE?

You will understand all of the fundamentals of music theory, and how it relates to the guitar fretboard.

You'll no longer feel like the fretboard is a mysterious and confusing place with areas that you are afraid to go to, and paths that you are hesitant to take.

You'll be able to find and create chords and scales on your own without charts, and be able to define them without a book or the internet.

You'll know why a chord or scale is called what it's called, it's anatomy, how to construct it on your own, and how to find it elsewhere on the fretboard.

You'll be able to HEAR the differences between different chords and scales, and be able to put a name to what you hear.

You'll know exactly what it means to be in a musical key, and all of the chords and scale shapes associated with that key.

You'll understand the structure of chord progressions, and how to easily find all of the chords in a key.

You'll understand how intervals are the basis of harmony, and how different intervals create different chords and scales....with this knowledge you'll be able to change out and replace different notes, to create new chords and scales.

When you learn or create a chord or a riff, you'll immediately know what other chords or notes would work well with that chord or riff.

You'll be able to define chord progressions, melodies and riffs by number and interval, and then be able to easily transpose that structure to any other key.

You'll develop your ear so that you can hear the difference between different intervals, chords and scales.

You'll then be able to apply that knowledge to define the musical context of the songs you learn and create. By understanding the underlying structure, you'll gain a greater sense of freedom and mastery over the fretboard and music in general.

COMMON QUESTIONS:

Who is the course for?

The fretLIVE Fretboard Mastery Program is for dedicated guitar learners ranging from late beginner to late intermediate levels looking to transform their playing and understanding of how music works on the fretboard. Before enrolling, students should at least be comfortable playing all of your basic open position chords, and have some single note riffs under your belt as well. It's also great for those that have played for a long time but want to understand how it all works and how it all connects on the fretboard.

When are the live sessions?

There are two for each unit, and you are expected to only come to one, as it's the same class taught twice to accommodate different time zones. One is Thursday nights at 7:30pm Central, and the other is Saturday morning at 11:30am Central. Most international students choose the Saturday session.

What if I can't make the live sessions?

It's not a big deal. I record every session, and I post a replay. You can watch the replay on your own time. Of course, it's great to be there and interact, and ask questions, but sometimes people can't make it.

Do I need an electric guitar?

This course is ideal for both acoustic and electric players, but there is a lot to do with lead guitar...so if you aspire to play lead guitar on your acoustic, then it will be perfect!

I hope to see you in September!

Happy Playing!
