The fretLIVE Fretboard Mastery Program (Self Paced Edition)
A Song Based Guitar Theory Course for Complete Fretboard Fluency
Watch Promo
Welcome to the new SELF-PACED version of the fretLIVE Fretboard Mastery Program! Many students have reached out to me that want to get all the benefits of the course without the live teacher experience, and without sharing the week to week coursework with classmates. Even though I think the live experience is more valuable, it doesn't work for everybody due to our schedules, and for some students, this is a much better option!
Many students start to feel behind very quickly with the live session. You can really take your time with the self-paced edition!
Also, you can still watch zoom class replays from prior cohorts that I have added into the course!
This is not just a regular online course you buy, and then go through on your own, whenever you want, with no accountability to master the concepts and get through to the end.
This is more like a semester long college course that I'll be teaching you through both a suite of in depth fretLIVE fretboard animation video lessons and live weekly face to face small group video lessons, and you'll have 39 other classmates to interact with in a private group.
(Note for Self-Paced Edition: You will not have live classmates, but can watch replays of the live sessions from prior groups)
Over the course of 12 weeks, you'll take 12 sequential three part lessons. Each lesson has a theory segment with fretLIVE animations, a song lesson segment, so you can see the concept applied, and a creative assignment that challenges you to explore the concept on your own. There are also some written assignments where you'll be working with fretboard diagrams, TAB, and chord charts.
To successfully complete the course, you'll have to share video or audio recordings of your work in a private group with your peers. If you're not comfortable with that, you'll have to email them to me.
(Note for self-paced edition: You can email me work and I will review it and send feedback)
WHAT WILL YOU GAIN FROM THIS COURSE?
You will understand all of the fundamentals of music theory, and how it relates to the guitar fretboard.
You'll no longer feel like the fretboard is a mysterious and confusing place with areas that you are afraid to go to, and paths that you are hesitant to take.
You'll be able to find and create chords and scales on your own without charts, and be able to define them without a book or the internet.
You'll know why a chord or scale is called what it's called, it's anatomy, how to construct it on your own, and how to find it elsewhere on the fretboard.
You'll be able to HEAR the differences between different chords and scales, and be able to put a name to what you hear.
You'll know exactly what it means to be in a musical key, and all of the chords and scale shapes associated with that key.
You'll understand the structure of chord progressions, and how to easily find all of the chords in a key.
You'll understand how intervals are the basis of harmony, and how different intervals create different chords and scales....with this knowledge you'll be able to change out and replace different notes, to create new chords and scales.
When you learn or create a chord or a riff, you'll immediately know what other chords or notes would work well with that chord or riff.
You'll be able to define chord progressions, melodies and riffs by number and interval, and then be able to easily transpose that structure to any other key.
You'll develop your ear so that you can hear the difference between different intervals, chords and scales.
You'll then be able to apply that knowledge to define the musical context of the songs you learn and create. By understanding the underlying structure, you'll gain a greater sense of freedom and mastery over the fretboard and music in general.
